An evergreen tree in steel. Work in progress.
An image of a sculpture that I completed last year, Dreaming Through the Gateway, appears in this newly issued, Heads Magazine: The Revival Issue. Published by House of Miracles in collaboration with U.D.L.I. Editions and New Art Dealers Alliance, 2022.
A couple of steel books. Work in progress.
Horse template for steel sculpture element. Work in progress.
Three consecutive stages in the shaping of what was originally the front panel of a steel file cabinet drawer. Work in progress.
Found powder coated steel panel; cleaned and prepared for working (apple for scale). Work in progress.
The completed travel / storage box for Dreaming Through the Gateway. A sliding guillotine front entry panel was constructed to replace the barn door opening approach. And the box lid (not pictured here) securely seals the box.
The travel box construction is now underway; shown here with the beginnings of the barn door opening, which will allow for access to the sculpture.
With the completion of this ethafoam base made in accordance to the footprint of Dreaming Through the Gateway; I can now move on to the next step of building the travel box which will house it and the new sculpture.
This sculpture is now completed. As it turns out, its completion is on the first day of spring and the last day of Pisces; sign of the dreamer. When I began this work over four years ago, I could not fully imagine the time that this sculpture would require. Though any time estimate would have been a moot approximation in comparison to my impulse to begin this work then and my drive to follow through with its resolution. A far away inner territory; pioneered and finally claimed: Dreaming Through the Gateway. 2016-2021. Coated steel sheeting, steel tin, rivets, and hanging wire. 14.75" x 32" x 27". *(Note: more comprehensive images to follow in the near future, once this piece is properly photographed.)
This improvised leather thimble roll enables for focused pressure to be applied in supporting the rivet tabs, while relatively safely awl puncturing and drilling directly towards my finger. (Dreaming Through the Gateway)
